About Bill Yates

Bill grew up in the Sandhills area of North Carolina prior to moving to Columbia, South Carolina where he finished high school. He realized his dream of playing college basketball at Erskine College. Upon graduation he began his career working in Marketing for Exxon USA.  However, he sensed a strong call into the ministry and enrolled in Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary earning a Masters of Divinity. He then attended the School of Pastoral Care at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem where he met his wife Cissy. Bill pastored several churches prior to returning to Baptist Hospital as Director of Church and Community Relations. Later he became Vice-President of Pastoral Care at Baptist Hospital where he served until retirement. He still resides in Winston-Salem.

Bill and Cissy have been married 40 years and have two children, Matt and Erin and one one grandson, Jakob.
